Somerville are delighted to have completed a recent fit out in Belfast for a renowned global tech company. Located within City Quays 2, a 9 storey BREEAM building in the harbour estate, the office benefits from breath-taking views overlooking the River Lagan and some of the city’s best-known landmarks.
Somerville brought the superbly designed scheme of Todd Architects to life under the supervision of renowned project managers Turner & Townsend. Contemporary Scandi-chic design was used to create a modern, comfortable workspace for the 100-plus team who will occupy the space from mid-February.
The beautiful yet challenging concept designs for the joinery were interpreted and brought to life in our manufacturing hub, just outside Belfast. These pieces included meeting pods, entrance lobby, and breakout areas. As is common in the scandi style, the design made good use of natural birch ply. Combined with the large expanse of natural light in the building, the result was a light airy yet welcoming space.
On the practical side the furniture was designed and manufactured to offer maximum flexibility within these open plan offices, collaboration booths, and ancillary spaces. Using sit-stand desks, bespoke pods and standing height meeting hubs; everything was considered for a calm and relaxed work environment. The communal tea points are bright and inviting while users are offered a spectacular view over the River Lagan.
