Four keen cyclists from the Somerville team are taking on the ultimate challenge and entering the “Mallorca 312 – Giant – Taiwan” in April. Forget Grand Fondo, it’s all about the cyclist’s paradise in Mallorca!

This is a self-funded trip made up by Neil Long, Craig Long, Barry McKay and Paul Shields. The team will tackle a gruelling 312km of Spanish terrain, which sees them starting at 7am in Playa de Muro and finishing at 9pm that evening. The registration of the event sold out in a matter of days and with 8000 participants due on 27th April, this is clearly a very popular event!

It’s a testing challenge for any cyclist, so our guys decided it was worth raising money for a nominated, local charity. It was collectively decided that all funds would be donated to Pretty ‘n’ Pink which is the only Breast Cancer Charity in Northern Ireland based. Founded in 2006, the charity is run by a small team with the help of volunteers from across the country. All money raised by Pretty ‘n’ Pink stays within Northern Ireland and is used to provide practical help and support to patients with Breast Cancer and their families.

We’re delighted to be involved with this worthwhile charity and hope to raise much needed funds over the coming months.
