This prestigious project involved custom-building the map room wall panelling and bespoke furniture, completely off-site, at our manufacturing facility. Due to logistics and the delicate nature of the project, precision planning was imperative for this luxury scheme. It involved the Somerville team surveying the site and producing detailed technical drawings for subcontractors to plan around. Two weeks of extensive design and development between Linley and Somerville took place, designing the manufacturing details for production. After production, the team carefully transported all the elements of the project to central London and fitted each component with meticulous precision.
Working closely with designers Linley on this project we delivered an elegant business space, using the very best materials and innovative technology. The marquetry map wall was the main focal point, crafted in Macassar and walnut veneer. The wall panelling was manufactured in walnut and ziricote veneer. The solid American walnut bookcases, housed a vast library of reading material covering fashion, art, design, and travel. An array of furniture catered for every type of guest who entered the Map Room. With comfortable and functional workspaces for laptops users, private nooks for more discreet conversations and for more relaxed discussions, high backed banquette seating and glamorous sofa and chairs.
This intricate project took just over 12 weeks in its entirety, from initial meetings, design and drawings through to manufacture, installation, and final handover. Both the client and designer’s expectations were exceeded by our ability to execute this with such precision.
